Bruce Springsteen shows Dublin who's THE BOSS
After this weekend's London debacle in which the city council pulled the plug on Bruce Springsteen's concert at Hyde Park for breaking curfew, the E Street Band performed their next concert in Dublin. They began the show by turning on a fake generator. Then Bruce yells into the mic, "Before we were so rudely interrupted" and finished the last minute or two of "Twist and Shout", the song they were performing with Paul McCartney before their sound was cut off.
The next jab came a few moments later, in which they broke out the cover "I Fought the Law". But the best jab came at the end of the set, when a fake London police officer came onstage and pretended to arrest Springsteen.
It's good to see Springsteen joking around about that now famous London show and still manage to get his point across with his music and his all famous shows. I guess I finally realize why for many years Springsteen has been referred to as The Boss and only The Boss himself will say when to pull the plug on the show. And a quick FYI, The Dublin show ended before the 11PM curfew.

Gathering of the Vibes Festival....Possible Grateful Dead Reunion?
This weekend, this year's annual Gathering of the Vibes Festival will be taking place at Seaside Park in Bridgeport, Connecticut. It just so happens that all four living members of the Grateful Dead will be performing individual sets. Bruce Hornsby, a member of the Dead in the early 90's, will also be performing with Bob Weir.
The last time that Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann all shared a stage together was the magical summer of 2009, where they embarked on a huge reunion tour.
On August 1st, it would have been the late Jerry Garcia's 70th Birthday. How cool would it be if they all put aside their differences for a night to honor the man that helped lead a revolutionary cult known as "Deadheads"? Man, I sure hope so. I've been waiting for this moment for a long time. I really hope that this happens.
Although Bobby and Phil have been touring non-stop together with their band Furthur, it would really be nice to see Mickey and Billy join in on the fun. I know I'm not the only one, as thousands of Deadheads will be hoping for this as well.
There is nothing better than to celebrate this man by throwing a party, playing music in front of a huge crowd, the only way the Dead knows how to. Remember folks, the music never stops and if my hopes and dreams of a great weekend comes to life, there will be nothing left to do but SMILE SMILE SMILE

New DMB Single Released
Only a few weeks away, Dave Matthews Band will be releasing their seventh studio album. Today they released their first single off "Away From the World". The single is titled "Mercy". Matthews first performed this song on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon a few weeks back.
"Mercy" is a sweet song with a very powerful message.
"Mercy" is a sweet song with a very powerful message.
Me and you and you and you
Just want to be free yeah
But you see all the world is just as we've made it
And until we got a new world
Got to say that love is not a whisper or a weakness
No love is strong
So we got to get together yeah
Gotta get gotta get gotta get
Til there is no reason
To fight
Mercy will we overcome this
Oh one by one could we turn it around
Maybe carry on just a little bit longer
And I try to give you what you need
Just want to be free yeah
But you see all the world is just as we've made it
And until we got a new world
Got to say that love is not a whisper or a weakness
No love is strong
So we got to get together yeah
Gotta get gotta get gotta get
Til there is no reason
To fight
Mercy will we overcome this
Oh one by one could we turn it around
Maybe carry on just a little bit longer
And I try to give you what you need
I, a huge DMB fan, am really excited for the release of this album. As with every album, the band shows their maturity and how much they've grown musically over the years. I'm sure that "Away From the World" will not disappoint.
The Boss and Sir Paul McCartney: Still Not Enough Power in London
This past weekend, Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band were playing a show in London's Hyde Park. During the encore, The Boss surprised the fans of about 80,000 with a very surprise guest, Beatles Legend Sir Paul McCartney. They proceeded to perform the Beatles classic "I Saw Her Standing There". The show didn't stop there as they began to perform another great tune, "Twist and Shout". During the middle of the song, London's City Council decided to show Bruce Springsteen who's boss. The sound was turned off!
THE SHOW WENT 10 MINUTES OVER CURFEW!!!!!!
Now as a huge fan of both these musicians, I'm extremely upset that this happened and I'm only hearing about this here in America. I can only imagine how the crowd felt and how I might have reacted if I had attended this concert.
I believe that there should be no curfews at a show. Bands should play for as long as they desire. What's so "Rock N' Roll" about rules and regulations?
Members of the E Street Band feel the same way as I do as lead guitarist Steve Van Zandt took to twitter to express his anger.
"I'm sorry but I have to be honest I'm pissed ... It didn't ruin the great night. But when I'm jamming with McCartney don't bug me!" He also implied his fans were denied their final number, saying, "We would have been off by 11 if we'd done one more. Hard Rock would have let us play all night," adding, "Feel bad for our great fans ... It's some City Council stupid rule."
Now in the next few weeks, London will be hosting this year's Summer Olympics. If an event some how goes over the curfew, will they pull the plug on that as well? Probably Not. I just shake my head at such dumb actions as this.
British journalist Richard James also tweeted, "Springsteen and McCartney: Only in Britain could a local council pull the plug on the greatest artists of the last 50 years giving it all."
That says it all.
Shame on you London. Shame on you.

Welcome to The Music Messenger
Welcome to my blog, The Music Messenger.
My name is Mike and I am a huge fan of music. Ever since I was a little kid, I've always had the pleasure of listening to great music.
I am a huge fan of classic rock. Some of my favorite bands include: The Grateful Dead, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles, just to name a few.
I am an avid concert goer. I have such a love for attending live shows. To me, there is more to a live show than just watching the band perform their hits. I truly enjoy the settings, the vibes, the stories, and most importantly, the friends I have met along the way.
My goal is to share these experiences with you. With this blog, I plan on sharing all topics related to the music scene that we've all come to love over the years. I mean, let's face it, everyone loves some sort of music. Who doesn't? It doesn't matter what kind of music it is, MUSIC IS UNIVERSAL. Everyone has that bond the binds them together.
I'll be posting videos of my favorite performances from various artists. I will also give up to date news in the music world, share my favorite albums with you, my favorite songs, and of course, talk about the great musicians that have had a huge role in shaping all our lives.
